Transcript Editor and Playback

The Transcript Editor allows users to play media files and read, edit, or analyze the corresponding transcript in real time. With built-in speaker identification, playback synchronization, and search tools, navigating through your qualitative data becomes intuitive and efficient.

What you'll find in the Editor

All your editing tools in one intuitive space :

📂 Left Panel

Project Navigation:

Click the project name at the top to return to the file list.

Rename File:

Hover over the file name → ✏️ icon → click to rename.

Playback Controls:

▶️ Play / ⏸ Pause

⏩ Forward / ⏪ Rewind

Speed Adjustment

File Details

Displays file name and total duration.

Read-Along Tracking

Highlights transcript in real-time with the audio.

  • Toggle On/Off via switch.

  • Auto-scroll pauses if user scrolls manually →
    'Jump to Current Word' button appears for quick return.

File Info (3-Dot Menu)

Click on the three-dot menu beside a file in the left panel

Displays basic metadata about the transcript file:

Type: Whether the transcription was manual or automatic.

Duration: Total length of the media file.

Audio / Transcript Language

Services: Identifies what service was used (e.g., transcription, translation).

Date Created and Due Date

Additional Info: Strict Verbatim, Redaction, Timestamps if any is opted by the user while uploading a file.

Find and Replace Top-right (Find icon) on the editor page.

Use the Find & Replace tool to quickly search and edit text within your transcript.

Find Options:

Match Case: Makes the search case-sensitive (e.g., "Test" ≠ "test").

Find: Search for any word or phrase in the transcript.

Match Word: Matches only whole words (e.g., searching "cat" won’t match "category").

Replace Options :

Replace: Replace only the selected instance of the word.

Replace All: Replace all occurrences of the matched word at once.

Spacebar → Play / Pause

Shift+Tab → Highlight

🗣️ Managing Speakers Labels:

To organize your transcript by speaker, you can add new labels or edit existing ones directly within the editor.

Add a New Speaker
Click on “+ Add New” in the speaker dropdown menu to create a new speaker label. You can then assign it to the selected segment.

Edit an Existing Speaker
To update the name of an existing speaker label across the transcript, click the pencil icon ✏️ next to the speaker’s name. Changes will automatically reflect across all segments using that label.

Editing Timestamps in Transcript Segments

You can manually update the timestamp for any transcript segment to better align it with the actual audio or video.

How it works:

Click on the timestamp next to a transcript segment.

A time editor popup will appear, allowing you to enter a new HH:MM:SS value.

After adjusting the time, click "Update" to save the change.

Restore Transcript: You can restore the transcript, which will delete all changes made since. Before completing the restore, you will be asked to confirm whether you want to proceed.

Bulk Action Menu

The platform supports bulk management of files and transcripts to help streamline organization and file handling across projects.

Bulk Actions

You can select multiple files to perform common actions such as:

Download: Save the selected file(s) to your device.
Move to: Transfer selected file(s) to another folder or project

How to Use:

Check the box next to one or more files in the file list.

A bulk actions menu will appear at the bottom of the screen

Choose an action: Download or Move to.

Move To

The Move To option helps you keep your workspace organized by relocating files to the appropriate folders.

Steps to Move Files

Select one or more files using the check box

Click the “Move to” button from the bulk actions menu.

In the popup:
Search for an existing folder

Or create a new folder by typing a name and clicking Create and Move

Once selected, the file(s) will be moved to the chosen folder.
